Reiki

What is Reiki?

The word itself comes from two Japanese characters — Rei, meaning universal consciousness or hidden source, and Ki, meaning life force or vital energy. Together they point to something that most traditions across the world have recognised in their own language: the animating energy that runs through all living things.
In Sanskrit it is known as Atmashakti; in Chinese medicine, Qi; in the yogic tradition, Prana.

In the early twentieth century, Japanese practitioner Mikao Usui formalised these principles into what became known as the Usui System of Natural Healing — a precise yet remarkably gentle method of channelling this life force energy, primarily through the hands, to support the body's natural capacity to heal itself.

What is Reiki good for?

Reiki works across the whole person — physical, emotional and mental — and is used to support a wide range of experiences:

  • Deep relaxation and nervous system regulation

  • Stress, anxiety and emotional overwhelm

  • Recovery after illness, surgery or medical treatment

  • Chronic pain and fatigue

  • Grief, loss and life transitions

  • Sleep difficulties

  • A general sense of feeling stuck, flat or out of balance

  • Hormonal imbalances, peri-menopausal symptoms

It is not a replacement for medical care, but a complement to it.
One that an increasing number of hospitals and integrative health clinics now offer alongside conventional treatment.

Can I receive Reiki online?

Yes. I offer Reiki sessions over Zoom, so you can receive the work at home — useful if travel is difficult, or if you simply feel more at ease in your own space.

Reiki is not dependent on touch. It works with the field of attention and energy between practitioner and receiver, and that connection holds across distance in the same way intention does. You settle somewhere comfortable, we begin together, and I work as I would in the room: with focus, presence, and care.
Most people find they drop into the same deep rest and register the same shifts in the body: warmth, release, a settling of the nervous system.

Anna's approach & training

As a fully trained Reiki Master and teacher in both the Usui Reiki method and traditional Japanese Reiki techniques, I tailor each session to the individual needs of my clients. Every technique emerges from an intention, an attitude and a culture. Japanese Reiki Techniques are doorways into a unique and beautiful culture, a culture aspiring to harmony and simplicity.

My own journey incorporates the profound practices of Kriya Yoga, alongside the wisdom of Buddhism, Tantra, and shamanic traditions. These influences deepen my understanding of energy, compassion, and the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit.
